Jaguar has launched its I-Pace SUV at a special event in Graz, Austria prior to making its public launch at the Geneva motor show.
The I-Pace is available immediately with a UK launch price starting at £63,495.
With amazing range of 298 on the 90KW model and 0-60mph of 4.5 seconds it is placed in direct competition with the Tesla Model X, albeit at an entry price £7,000 less.
The fast pace is supported with superb handling, as with the Model X the I-Pace 432 batteries are mounted beneath the floor and distributed to give a perfectly balanced weight distribution between the front and rear axles.
The I-Pace is also All wheel drive with separate electric motors driving the front and rear wheels independently for maximum range and performance.
Long range flexibility is further boosted by a 45-minute 80% charge at a public fast charging point (easily found at motorway service stations) making long runs a breeze.
The inside of the car does not disappoint with three 10-inch touch screens, one behind the steering wheel giving driver information and two mounted centrally to control the car functions. A sweeping modern design to the dashboard and a multi-functional steering wheel add to the aesthetics.
The glass panoramic roof adds to the futuristic feel with modern comfortable seats and a huge 656 rear loading bay make the interior class leading for a car its size.
A much sportier and aggressive looking car than the Model X the I-Pace looks like having an immediate impact on the UK EV market.
