EV market share hits 5% as dirty diesel registrations suffer

EV registrations grows as market shrinks

The UK market for electric and hybrid vehicles grew 5.7% year on year for March 2018 with 24,126 registrations.

Overall the market fell by 15.7% driven by a drop in ‘dirty diesel’ registrations of 37.2%. Increased government taxes and a lack of trust by consumers are quoted as being to blame.

Car manufacturers state that the fall is on the back of a record March in 2017 but a fall of over 88,000 vehicles is a clear message to manufacturers to clean up their act.
