Hyundai Kona SUV EV to have 250 mile range
Hyundai unveiled their latest EV, the Kona SUV in New York this week.
With a targeted range of 250 miles between charges this puts the Kona SUV EV ahead of the Tesla Model 3 and Nissan Leaf.
A Hyundai spokesman stated that the Kona is “tailored to the needs of customers who pursue eco-focused active lifestyles requiring generous range.”
The Kona Electric will feature a 64 kWh lithium ion battery pack. Its electric motor sends 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels.
Delivery will start in the US in Q4 2018, with other markets coming soon after.
The Kona SUV EV can be fully charged at Level 2 in just under 10 hours. DC fast charging capability is a standard feature on the Kona, with zero to an 80 percent charge in less than an hour.
No prices as yet but given Hyundai’s record this could be a good opportunity for EV enthusiast to own their first electric car.
